What a Shopify expert does for your store

Shopify hosts the store, runs checkout and keeps the platform secure. The work that decides whether a store scales happens inside the extension points Shopify provides: the theme, apps, checkout extensions, Shopify Functions and integrations with the rest of your business.

I work as an architect first. Before any code is written, I write down how the store should be built and why: the data model, the app stack, integrations, Markets and checkout. Then I build on that plan and measure the result after launch.

I'm based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on US Eastern Time. I meet South Florida brands in person when that helps, and I work remotely with brands everywhere else.

How I work

  • Audit

I review how your store is built today: theme, data, apps, integrations, checkout, speed and UX.

  • Architecture plan

I write down how the store should be built and why, before any code is written.

  • Build

I build the store on that plan and test it before launch.

  • Measure

After launch we track the agreed numbers and decide what to improve next.

Native first, custom where it pays

How I decide what to build

  1. Check what Shopify does natively

Shopify now covers jobs that used to need apps or custom code, from bundles and order value limits to basic B2B. Native features have no app fee and no maintenance.

  2. Then check the App Store

A well-reviewed public app is often the right answer. Many apps package Shopify Functions and work on every plan.

  3. Build custom only for what's unique

Pricing tied to your ERP data, complex eligibility rules or B2B contract terms usually need a custom build. That's where architecture work pays off.

  4. Leave it maintainable

Work happens on a development theme with version control, and anything custom comes with documentation your team can use after handoff.

FAQ

Common questions

Is a Shopify expert the same as a Shopify developer?

There's overlap. A Shopify developer builds themes, apps, extensions and integrations. As a Shopify eCommerce Architect I also decide how those pieces fit together before anything is built, and I build them.

Do you only work with Florida businesses?

No. I'm based in Fort Lauderdale and can meet South Florida brands in person, but most of my work runs remotely, so I work with brands anywhere in the US.

Do I need Shopify Plus?

Many stores run well on standard Shopify. Plus still matters for checkout customization on the information, shipping and payment steps, custom apps with Shopify Functions, and B2B at scale. The audit is a good way to find out which plan fits your store.

How long does a project take?

It depends on the scope, and you get a timeline with the quote before work starts. An audit usually takes 1 to 2 weeks and a store build 6 to 10 weeks.

Planning a build, a migration or a replatform?

Start with a 20-minute architecture call.
